The Grindleford Gallop

Edale Mountain Rescue Team

The organisers of The Grindleford Gallop are grateful for the support that this, entirely voluntary, organisation provides for this event. So far, we have not required their services for any incidents and long may this continue! However, it is comforting to have them on hand!

EMRT's operational area includes some of the most popular and frequently visted areas of The Peak District National Park.

The incidents that they attend are numerous and varied in nature. One call could be a fallen climber with serious injuries, requiring both their medical expertise and outdoor skills. Another could be helping the Police search for vulnerable missing persons where their numbers and search expertise are highly valued.

All the work of EMRT is voluntary and self funded. They rely entirely on fundraising activities, including providing a service to events like The Gallop, to maintain their resources - from equipment and base facilities to vehicles and trainig. Everything is funded from charitable donations.

Please support this vital, local, service. Hopefully you will never need them. However with an average of 100 call outs a year there are plenty of people who have been grateful for their experience
